Why Are We Saying No to Crypto Mining?
Cryptocurrency mining is an energy-intensive process that demands vast amounts of electricity, water, and infrastructure. In Arkansas, this unchecked industry threatens to:
Strain our Energy Grid
Crypto mining facilities consume massive amounts of electricity, putting an unprecedented strain on our local energy supply. This not only raises utility costs for residents but also risks blackouts and system overloads.
Deplete and Pollute Our Natural Resources
Crypto mining facilities use an array of super computers that generate a tremendous amount of heat. To cool those computer facilities either use an extraordinary amount of water or employ enormous fans that generate unacceptable amount of noise pollution. A lot of the facilities are strategically located in rural communities often near wildlife or areas critical to our most valuable natural resources.
Drive Up Costs for Local Communities
As demand for electricity skyrockets, Arkansans will bear the financial burden. With higher energy bills and potential tax hikes to maintain infrastructure, it’s our local communities that suffer while out-of-state mining corporations profit.
Jeopardize Public Health and Safety
